Can you believe I just spent US $1.25  each for corn on the cob yesterday?  

And without even thinking twice about it;  

Back to Tokyo and crazy, high prices for food.

Next year we have grandiose visions of gardening part of the empty lot behind our house.  

Usually the weeds are as tall as I am, 

unlike the grassy look of this picture here taken when we first moved in.  

It is rather common to garden spots like this, even if you don't own the land; 

trying to put to good use every square foot of soil in this over-crowded city!

After a fun summer in the US,

with one of the many highlights being...

  picking and eating free cherries,

 we are motivated to put that land to work for us.  

Granted, we may get more heat stroke and mosquitoes bites than produce, 

but who knows, working in that dirt might do these 
wanna-be-farmers-in-the-big-city adventurers some good.

So...off to buy a shovel.
