Saying "Goodbye" harder, yet better than imagined

The main reason we visited the US this summer was to help our oldest settle into college.  Transition to University life is a big step for any 18 year old, but especially for an MK (missionary kid) who has lived most of his life overseas.  He looks like your run-of-the-mill American teenager sporting flip-flops and loving hamburgers, but inside he is different.  He is filled with rich life experiences that make him see big and feel heartfelt the world around him.

And, for those teary-eyed parents saying that dreaded goodbye, it's not just a few hours drive away, with hopes of seeing this new college student a few weekends each semester.  It's a gut-renching "Sayonara" of crossing that huge, so-expensive-to-fly-over ocean, with hopes of seeing that new college son of theirs once a year and so very often on Skype.

We couldn't have asked for more of God's blessings.  Time to move in, buy needed things, see the campus, meet roommates....so thankful for the chance God gave us to be there, to be apart of his new world.  So very thankful that he is already enjoying classes and friends, and that God is growing him into this new stage of life and empowering him for this unknown journey ahead.  Read more about that on his new blog HERE.
