Stepping on American soil, through the haze of jet-lag, we were surprised again by these many blessings:
- Wide parking spaces and even wider streets
- Ceiling fans in the bedrooms (ahhh, Couldn't this be mandatory worldwide?)
- Rock solid walls and doors
- Feeling pampered with soft TP and hot water in every bathroom
Cheap and yummy fast food at every corner
- Wal-Mart...need I say more (Imagine your life without it!)
- Huger than life trees that dwarf us in their cool shade
- Soft and luscious green grass, everywhere! Can't help but walk through it barefoot.
- The bulk-food isle, such a treat!
- Sweet fresh fruit sold at road side stands for about 1/4 of the Japanese price
We were also surprised again by the warm, generous welcome of our home church and home town friends. Giving friends and family, making sure we have more than we need....a ride from the airport, a car to drive, a place to stay, a phone to use, a party hosted for our graduating teen, a place to do laundry, a stack of gift cards to spend at favorite stops and spending money in our pockets....so, so very blessed. And we are so, so very humbled once again. But also so, so very thankful for this privilege to once again be on the receiving end, to be loved and cared for by the family of God.
