3,000 miles. And that is just last weeks mileage as we traveled to Colorado and back. The weekend before we logged in another 1,000 miles up to the Northwest.
I guess "road trips" is a part of the missionary's job desription on Home Assignment. We need to squeeze in time with family, friends, supporters and churches while we are in the US. And that means logging in some miles.
The kids have been great travelers; reading for hours in the car, sleeping in strange beds (and often on the floor) and quickly making new friends with seemingly strangers wherever we go. God gave us many teachable moments and good family talks while in the car.
It is always tiring to get us packed up each time, then armed with the estimated amount of needed clean clothes, healthy snacks and cold water for that day's journey. Oh course, we have to be semi-organized enough to find what we need, when we need it.
We arrived safely at 1:30AM after the last leg of the journey a little "peopled out" and ready for our own beds. After all, isn't the best part of the trip coming home?
