We were off last week to a needed get-away.
To my favorite place in Japan.
A cluster of old, mostly-falling-apart cabins set on rocky, pine tree cliffs.
Off to a Cabin by the Sea.
For many years our mission has owned 2 rustic cabins. We have the responsibility and privilege to oversee them...which means we usually work instead of rest anytime we are there. But I LOVE it. I love fixing them up little by little, with very little, to make it just a little more of a welcome haven for tired kingdom workers (us included). Even if we work half of the time we are there, I come back refreshed from just getting away.
Here are some snap shots of all of us last summer.
Since we have so many fun memories there as the 5 of us, it was sad to be a lonely 4.
No matter how busy we might be tossing musty cushions or rusty desks, or washing windows and blankets, I sneak out to the sunshine and to listen to the sea. Just me and my hoarded Country Living magazines. I don't mind the company of some sand in my toes and a cold ice tea in my hands.
