visiting Akita

Last week we visited our dear friends in Akita Prefecture, on the northern part of the main island of Japan. We reminisced how Tim had first met them 25 years ago when he was a short term missionary with Campus Crusade. This home-stay family has become just that to us, family. They have helped support Tim and our family in so many ways. We look forward to our visits with them every few years.
Here are some pictures of their beautiful cabin built in the woods; a peaceful place for retirement, even though they haven't slowed down a bit. "Oto-san" (dad) as we call him, preaches each week at the small church they helped to start. They built the log chapel next to their house. "Oka-san" (mom) still teaches patch work quilting classes and has a heart to share the gospel with her many students. I love to get inspired each time I visit and come home with pretty, new fabric squares. Staying in their home feels like I have stepped into a cozy picture in a magazine.
