For our 9th grader, it was a walk in the park accademically after 3 gruelling (but wonderful) middle school years at his Christian English School in Japan. It was hard though, for him not to have many Christian friends in such a big high school filled with (sometimes swearing and smooching) non-Christians.
For our 6th and 4th grader, coming from Japanese school and home schooling, it was their first time in an English classroom setting in 3 years. Even though they were at their grade level accademically, writting and vocabulary were definetly a challenge. Getting good grades mattered all of the sudden. They also had to learn to turn in assignments on time, study for tests and ask their teacher for help if they didn't understand.

The biggest reason we have a one year Home Assignment is for our kids to experience a full year of American school. We thank God for His daily protection, grace and help to not just survive this school year, but to thrive!
