another 35 seconds gone

Tim said the other day that every 35 seconds, 1 Japanese dies without knowing Christ. Wow, that sure made me stop and think and I have thought of it many times since. It is sobering and helps me keep the right perspective on what really matters in life. This simple statistic helps me grasp the reality of millions of Japanese who are without a Christian witness.

I am often overwhelmed by the masses in Tokyo while riding the trains. It's easy to look them as just a crowd of people, but each smartly dressed, bowed, dark head I pass is a lost soul that will probably never have the chance to hear. It's easier to be numb and blind, otherwise it hurts too much to care.
I feel the same as our son who said when we were talking about this, "That's just too sad".
Sigh. It really is.
