friends forever

Oceans away. Literally, we are far across the ocean from the island of Japan and even in these short 4 months of living on American soil; Japan feels oceans away.

I was looking through and trying to organize some pictures today and saw these of the boys. It was there last day at Japanese school and their classes had taken pictures and made giant goodbye cards. I think we took the pictures at the time, tying to persuade the boys that we couldn' fit anything extra in our suitcases, but we could always look at these pictures. Yet, at the time these treasured, hand-made gifts were more vaulable than gold.

Now we are in new schools, going to a new church and making new friends. Living oceans away.

We just heard that several of our middle son's Japanese school friends, who had been going to church with us while we were in Japan, came to the Lighthouse Church's weekend family camp last month. We'll continue to pray that God would draw these little ones to Himself and nuture those seeds planted in their hearts. Seeds planted from a little blond hair 3rd grader living among them, being their friend.

Even though we are now oceans away, we will hold these friends close to our heart...forever.
