pink sweetness flutters down

I love Tokyo in the spring.  Since we had a wedding anniversary the week that the cherry blossoms were out, we took several bike rides taking advantage of the sunshine and warmer weather.  (Not that we needed an excuse to get some exercise and spend a little time together.)  These famous Japanese beauties are in full bloom less than a week and often there is only a few days of sunshine dodging the cool spring rain that drops them quickly to the ground.

Along a river-canal near our home we rode our bikes, passing "picnickers" sitting on blue plastic tarps and eating obento-box lunches, some homemade, but most bought at the nearby 7-11. Don't forget the sa-ke! We passed on the beer, but stopped at some food stalls across the park where Cali got some extra love.

And we got some over-priced, but tasty Chinese dumplings and chatted with the unusually friendly venders who all said their's was #1!
We headed home as the sun set and the teasing spring air turned cool again.  Such a pleasant late afternoon break from e-mails and sermon prep, enjoying the prettiest time of the year in this intriging land.
