My husband amazes me. Lately he has tackled reading and replying to many e-mails from our Japanese church members and contacts. My eyes start to glaze over after the first couple of lines trying to decipher the difficult Chinese characters.
He has down-sized this seemingly daunting task with the help of a useful website called
"The Furiganizer". You copy and paste your Japanese text (like the letter we receive via e-mail) and it adds the
furigana so that we can read it. Granted we still might not know the meaning of everything, but then it is faster to look up words since we know how to
say the word.
The furigana is the more simpler Japanese phonetic alphabet of
hirigana (46 symbols that we can read easily and Japanese kids learn in 1st grade) that is written above or to the side of the difficult Chinese Characters called
Kanji (which there are thousands and even the Japanese adults can't read them all).
