Today is the official last day of the
rainy season. For about 6 weeks we have had humid and hot weather with rain almost daily; sometimes thunderstorm, sometimes a drizzle and sometimes just a misty, fog that leaves feeling damp and sticky. Coming from dry California, the humidity is hard for us to get used to. Plus Hokkaido (the northern island of Japan) where we have lived before isn't effected by the rainy season weather.

The boys had fun the other day playing outside in a downpour where the street was flooding. It gave them a good chance to cool off. That's the upside of the rain and overcast sky; it brings us a short reprieve from the hot summer temperatures.

The hardest thing about rainy season though is trying to get those clothes dry. The other morning I woke up to blue skys and quickly got 8!!! loads of sheets, towels and clothes dried before the clouds rolled in. Otherwise the laundry can hang inside or in our
sunroom for 24 hours+ and still feel damp.
