sharing Jesus...even at the baseball game

One of the things one of our sons wanted to do this year on home assignment was to go to an Amercian baseball game. It is definetly a different experience here compared to Japan. The biggest thing you'll notice in the video below of a typical baseball game in Japan is the noise! Loud chants for the favorite players as well as unison clapping of platic cones fill your ears. So, a couple of weeks ago dad and son headed off to a relatively more quiet and laid back baseball afternoon at an American ball park here in California.

Dad and son went to an A's game with the Seattle Mariners as the visitng team. They were glad to see the most famous baseball player to come over from Japan, Ichiro. They were able to see his 2000th hit, leading off the game. There were many die hard fans who had come over from Japan just for the weekend to commemorate Ichiro's success.

Several of these Japanese enthusists sat right in front of Tim and our son at the game. Tim was able to talk with them in Japanese about baseball and life in Japan. He gave them a Japanese "manga" comic book of the Biblical account of Jesus' life (Tim had slipped the small book into his back pack at the last minute in case they had a chance to give it to Ichiro). How neat of God to take this simpe "experiencing-American-life" outing and turn in into a chance to share with these young Japanese men who have never heard the gospel message.
