Tidings of Great Joy

Christmas was here and now it feels far away. It was busy and beautiful.
With smells of delicious food and with sounds of noisy, heart-warming laughter.
It was so wonderful to have our college son home for the holidays, which filled our house, and our hearts, with joy.

But life has to go back to normal. The last Christmas cookies have been eaten and the dusty tree packed up in its box. The festivities have faded.  The light seems dimmer. And our son is gone. With tearful good-byes and extra hugs as we waited together for the airport bus.

Yet even though we are sad, we are happy.  We are proud of growth and maturity. We are humbled by God's grace in our lives. Even though we are tempted to wish for more...more time together, more blessings...we thank God for what we've already had, rich blessings so many received. Sweet memories and times connected. And the love doesn't come to an end and the joy doesn't disappear, it still fills our home.....And fills our hearts.
