Surviving the RUN-AROUND

We counted 10. Yes, 10 times that we have been to the DMV(Department of Motor Vehicles), City ward office or Visa-Immigration office in the last 2 weeks.

We needed to:
get me an international driving license (my US one expired and I could not renew it by mail)
get a visa extention on our usual 3 year visas
renew my alien registraion cards
be approved to be in the country proving we had paid our taxes
get our re-entry visas for when we return to Japan next year.

In the midst of our packing, it has added more stress and business. Rather than let frustraion set in and feel like we were wasting our time and energy (and gas), we tried to remember that all this run-around is a needed part of our missionary life here.
